pulling weeds

you can't treat me like you're just pulling weeds
your anchored grip is a violent binding pledge
with a brick wall embrace
a fervid execution
ripped out and gashed
effaced and deleted
a languid toss to the side
I whimper at the squall of grief and gloom
I yield the dauntless vernal petals
and I hope they're a bullet short
far from what was once called home
where the febrile earth grins and bares the burns
vultures wait for hearts to stop
beasts are preying on the white flag wavers
those noxious malignant raiders
perched in trees passing time
attacking when the marching dies
I've made it a habit now not to dry out
the wayward broken ones crying loud
this is unrest.

relegated

how do you get through today
relegated
have the walls stopped closing in
aching for breath
to be painless
still a vexatious ringing unbroken in my ears
so gravely abased it makes me nauseous
drowning at dawn
waking up in a tangled birth
of quicksand
lumbering and laden
weighted with cement
no rope no salvage
no avail no hero
never thought id be so close to perdition
benevolence bereaved of blooming or sprouting
be careful what you never wished for.
